Introduction

Formlabs Form 2 resin tanks need to be replaced after about 3000 layers or 2 liter of resin use. This generates a lot of (plastic) waste.

By replacing the acrylic windows of a worn out resin tank, you can create a durable tank which can be reused over and over again. Using the right type of optical glass, the tank is scratch resistant and can last virtually forever. Another advantage of this glass is that prints come out sharper with better detail.

Both standard orange tanks as green LT tanks can be converted to a reusable PDMS tank!

Why? Environment and Cost saving

Consumables add printing costs quickly and create a lot of (plastic) waste. Reconditioning tanks with optical glass enables you to recoat them with PDMS without risk of damaging the tank window. All parts of the tank are now resistant to Isopropyl alcohol as well, making them easy to clean.

A standard resin tank usually lasts about 1 to 2 liter. By recoating the tank yourself, you can save up to 50% in costs. Removing the old PDMS coating and applying a new one takes about 10 minutes.

After removing the original piece of acrylic, you can glue the window in place using UV-glue, standard epoxy glue or high viscosity cyanoacrylate (gorilla) glue.

Package contents The package includes a cut-to-size window of special optical glass which is highly scratch resistent. Sharp edges have been de-burred.

You need to supply your own orange(standard) or green(LT) resin tank.

Shipping The glass window will be packed in multiple layers of protection to ensure it arrives safely.
